Preceptors: Information & FAQ's

Payments for teaching stipends are delayed due to administrative personnel changes. Every effort is being made to issue teaching stipends as promptly and as efficiently as possible, however, some delays may be experienced.
Thank you in advance for your patience!

Funding is available to all clinical preceptors who teach McMaster MOHLTC funded clerks and residents in all McMaster Campus Regions (Niagara Regional Campus, Waterloo Regional Campus, Grand Erie Six Nations Clinical Education Campus, Burlington Clinical Education Campus, Halton Clinical Education Campus and Osler Clinical Education Campus).

The Mac-CARE Program processes preceptor stipends on a quarterly basis.  Every effort is made to ensure that the stipends are administered efficiently.

The quarters are as follows:

Quarter 1             April, May, June

Quarter 2             July, August, September

Quarter 3             October, November, December

Quarter 4             January, February, March

McMaster University generates T4A’s in the tax year invoices are processed. For example, if a preceptor takes a resident during Block 4 (September 24 to October 22, 2018) the payment will likely be issued during early January 2019 and as a result, the income will be reported for 2019 tax year.

In most cases, receipt of payments can be expected within six months of rotation completion.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us:
