Overview

Mac-CARE facilitates core and elective teaching, in the geographic area surrounding Hamilton.

For clerks and residents, core training is approved by your program administration – the clerkship rotation director or your residency program director. All rotations are designed to meet McMaster’s educational objectives.

Mac-CARE provides the infrastructure to allow this community training to happen: accommodation, hospital privileges, community contacts, and pagers (at some teaching sites).

For clerks, these experiences are built-in to your education and are not optional. Placements are arranged by Mac-CARE as directed by the undergraduate education office. Where options exist, Mac-CARE will contact you to determine which site and preceptor best meet your needs.

For most residency programs, core rotations in the community are available. If you would like to explore community training opportunities, please contact your program director.
